"This is the beginning of a new
day. You have been given this
day to use as you will. You can
waste it or use it for good.
What you do today is
important because you are
exchanging a day of your life
for it. When tomorrow comes,
this day will be gone forever;
in its place is something that
you have left behind...let it be
something good."

“And forget not that the earth
delights to feel your bare feet
and the winds long to play
with your hair.”

Love the earth and sun and
animals,
Despise riches, give alms to
everyone that asks,
Stand up for the stupid and
crazy,
Devote your income and labor
to others...
And your very flesh shall be a
great poem.

Here is a test to find out
whether your mission in life is
complete.
If you're alive, it isn't.

"People travel to wonder at
the height of the mountains,
at the huge waves of the seas,
at the long course of the
rivers, at the vast compass of
the ocean, at the circular
motion of the stars, and yet
they pass by themselves
without wondering."

"I would rather be ashes than
dust! I would rather that my
spark should burn out in a
brilliant blaze than it should
be stifled by dry rot. I would
rather be a superb meteor,
every atom of me in
magnificent glow, than a
sleepy and permanent planet.
The proper function of man is
to live, not to exist. I shall not
waste my days in trying to
prolong them. I shall use my
time."

"I will not die an unlived life. I
will not live in fear of falling
or
catching fire. I choose to
inhabit my days, to allow my
living to open me, to make me
less afraid, more accessible,
to loosen my heart until it
becomes a wing, a torch, a
promise. I choose to risk my
significance; to live so that
which comes to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom
and that which comes to me
as blossom, goes on as fruit."

"The day will come when,
after harnessing space, the
winds, the tides and
gravitation, we shall harness
for God the energies of love.
And on that day, for the
second time in the history of
the world, we shall have
discovered fire."

"To live content with small
means; to seek elegance
rather than luxury; and
refinement rather than
fashion; to be worthy, not
respectable; and wealthy, not
rich; to study hard, think
quietly, talk gently, act
frankly; to listen to stars and
birds, to babes and sages, with
open heart; to bear all
cheerfully, do all bravely,
await occasion, hurry never; in
a word, to let the spiritual,
unbidden and unconscious
grow up through the common.
This is to be my symphony."

"Normal day, let me be aware
of the treasure you are. Let
me learn from you, love you,
bless you before you depart.
Let me not pass you by in
quest of some rare and
perfect tomorrow. Let me
hold you while I may, for it
may not always be so. One
day I shall dig my nails into
the earth, or bury my face in
the pillow, or stretch myself
taut, or raise my hands to the
sky and want, more than all
the world, your return.
